Application of Intellectual Property

At the request of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the Academy – together with the Association of Universities in the Netherlands, the Netherlands Federation of University Medical Centres and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research – is engaged in drawing up an inventory and analysing the current practice of applying intellectual property to the results of scientific research.

The emphasis is on patents, plant breeders’ rights and copyright, where related to software. The State Secretary has requested that in performing this analysis, best practices be pointed out in a national and international context and that aspects be highlighted where the parties can learn from one another. This analysis will be carried out by a Committee for the Application of Intellectual Property.
