Research making use of non-human primates

At the request of the State Secretary for Education, Culture and Science and his colleague at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Academy is preparing an advisory report on the necessity of publicly funded research using non-human primates and how this research is organised.

The request is in line with the Academy’s advisory report Primates for biomedical research, published in 2011.

The new report will be drafted by the Non-Human Primates Research Committee, chaired by Stan Gielen, Professor of Biophysics and a member of the Academy.

Activities and planning

The report is published in September 2014.
