China Exchange Programme (CEP) – Joint Research Projects

Aim of programme CEP aims to foster long-term research collaboration between the Netherlands and China by providing seed money for new cooperation. The programme supports the exchanges of junior researchers, short-term joint research projects, and a yearly themed summer school in all fields of science.

What can you apply for?

Financial support to Dutch universities, research institutes, laboratories, or research groups wishing to carry out a joint research project with Chinese counterparts. Maximum funding is € 20,000 per year for a maximum of two years.

Who can apply?

A Dutch university represented by a senior researcher or other publicly financed scientific research institute in the Netherlands and a Chinese university or other research institute residing under one of the three Chinese counterpart organisations (MoE, CAS or CASS) represented by a senior researcher.

How can you apply? 

The deadline for submitting applications for Joint Research Projects in the Netherlands is 1 September 2016, 13.00 hrs (CET).

Please note

Please note that regulations for receiving Chinese researchers are subject to change. Please check with your university/institute and/or find more information on the euraxess website.

  • Applicants for Joint Research Projects with CAS/CASS are advised that their Chinese partner (institution) should simultaneously submit a copy of its application, or the relevant Chinese application form, to the Chinese counterpart authority to which their institution reports. 
  • Applicants for Joint Research Projects with MoE only have to submit their application on the KNAW side. If necessary, the Ministry of Finance will contact the Chinese applicant to retrieve further information on his/her application.

The grant will be awarded after approval by both the KNAW and the relevant Chinese counterpart organisation. Activities may only commence after official approval.
