Add event:

The KNAW Conference Patterns of Diversification and Contact: a Global Perspective will bring together leading experts from linguistics and neighbouring fields to pursue answers to questions concerning language dispersal and linguistic diversity on three continents: Africa, Southeast Asia/Pacific, and South America.

This conference aims at comparing the complex language and population histories of Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia/Pacific in terms of history and patterns of settlement, conceptions of ethnicity, and communication strategies. These three regions show interesting contrasts in the distribution of languages and language families.
