The official inauguration of ten new Young Academy members will take place on 26 March 2015 at the Trippenhuis Building, the Academy’s headquarters in Amsterdam. Academy President Hans Clevers will officiate. Each of the ten new members will give a brief introductory presentation. The meeting, which has imagination as its theme, will begin at 2.30 p.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. The Young Academy is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.
Members are appointed for a five-year period. That means that on 26 March, The Young Academy will also be saying farewell to the ten members inaugurated in 2010. For the complete programme, please visit The Young Academy’s website.
On 1 April 2015, Rianne Letschert, professor of international law and victimology at Tilburg University, will succeed neuroscientist Jeroen Geurts as The Young Academy’s chair. Also joining the board are Professor Maaike Kroon (separation technology) and Professor Christian Lange (Islamic and Arabic studies). Professor Hilde Geurts (autism) is already a member of the board, as is Professor Willem Schinkel (theoretical sociology), who becomes the vice-chairperson of The Young Academy. Members of The Young Academy board serve for two years.
