From 24 to 27 May 2015, the Indonesian Academy of Sciences (AIPI) celebrated its silver jubilee with a special programme of activities. The celebrations drew many dignitaries, including former president B. J. Habibie. The Academy and the AIPI cooperate closely in various areas, including the Academy Professor Indonesia programme.
During its silver jubilee celebrations, the Indonesian Academy of Sciences launched a number of initiatives patterned on recent Academy activities. This includes establishing an Indonesian Young Academy, developing a code of conduct for biosecurity, and drawing up a national research agenda.
Thanks in part to the close bilateral cooperation between the two academies, the AIPI has grown into a fully-fledged professional academy of sciences. The AIPI, like the Royal Academy, is a member of the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP, the global network of Science Academies).
