The Council for Technical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Informatics, Physics and Astronomy and Chemistry (TWINS Council) promotes research in the technical sciences, mathematics, informatics, physics, astronomy and chemistry.

The Council advises on research-related matters in the technical sciences, mathematics, informatics, physics, astronomy and chemistry. It also keeps track of new scientific trends and developments and investigates issues that affect multiple disciplines.

The Council has a maximum of thirty members, who are appointed in a private capacity.

Facts

The Council for Technical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Informatics, Physics and Astronomy and Chemistry (TWINS Council) was established in 2008 by merging two separate councils in the disciplines concerned. The Council was re-established for another five-year term in 2013; a number of its members are new.
