Council for the Humanities

The Council for the Humanities promotes scholarly research in the humanities and works to improve the position of the humanities in general. It facilitates dialogue and knowledge transfer between Dutch and foreign scholars.

Established in 1987,  the Council focuses on the arts and culture, history, philological or historical aspects of the study of law, language and literature, theology, and philosophy.

The Council organises discussion meetings, special projects and symposiums in connection with its advisory task.

Board and members

The Council has a maximum of 15 members, who are appointed in a private capacity.
