Beijerinck Premium

The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) annually awards the Beijerinck Premium to a talented early career researcher who does excellent virus-related research and in doing so is an example for other young virologists.

The Beijerinck Premium, established in 2002, consists of a monetary award of 25.000 euros, to be spent for virus-related research as well as for working visits and conferences abroad.



Who is it for?

Researchers working at a Dutch university or research institute, who have received their PhD between three and eight years ago.

Nomination and award

Nominations for the 2022 round are no longer being accepted. The next round for the Beijerinck Premium opens late 2022.

Early 2022 the Academy will announce the recipient of the Beijerinck Premium. The Beijerinck Premium will be presented on 3 March 2022 during the Dutch Annual Virology Award.
