The Beijerinck Premium is intended to encourage virology research. It is awarded annually to an early career researcher who is conducting outstanding virus-related research at a Dutch scientific organisation. The Beijerinck Premium was established in 2002 and is named after virologist M.W. Beijerinck (1851-1931).
