Judith van Erp is interested in white collar crime and supervision of corporations. She is one of the European pioneers in this originally American field of research. Van Erp studies the effect of ‘naming and shaming’ and negative publicity on the reputation and behaviour of corporations. She has also studied the effectiveness of the Dutch television programme Opsporing Verzocht, in which the police appeal to the public to help solve specific crimes. She has analysed the workings of the Netherlands Gaming Authority and the willingness of business people to report fraud perpetrated by their competitors.
