Marijn Franx examines the evolution of galaxies. The galaxies he studies are so far away, that the light takes billions of years to reach Earth.
By studying these galaxies we can look back in time and see how galaxies are formed and evolved. The results are spectacular: we see huge collisions, major birth waves of star formation in some systems , and more.
