Climate change is one of the major challenges of our time. A recent report by the European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC) charts the impact of climate change on the health of Europe’s population. This symposium will consider the report’s conclusions.

The report The imperative of climate action to protect human health in Europe argues that rapid action is needed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions so as to avoid further adverse impacts on human health.

The focus of this session will be the report’s conclusions, presented by Andy Haines, co-chair of the Working Group that authored the report. Other speakers will discuss the impact on the Netherlands as well as gaps in scientific knowledge and the implications for policy.

The proceedings will be conducted in English.

The Symposium is being organised by the Academy’s Medical, Biomedical and Health Sciences Domain.
