The Academy and the coronavirus

17 March 2020

We are entering a period in which the world seems to have changed completely. Without exception, we are concerned about our health, the well-being of our loved ones, and the continuity of the life we were used to.

These are the measures that the Academy is taking to limit the spread of the Covid-19 virus (the 'coronavirus') as much as possible. The Academy is following the general advice and guidelines announced by the Dutch Government and the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and also those specifically intended for universities and research institutions.

Trippenhuis closed

With effect from Monday afternoon, 16 March 2020, the Trippenhuis building is now closed. As far as possible, all Bureau staff will work from home. You will continue to be able to contact them – as well as the Board and the Management – by phone and e-mail.

No meetings

All meetings scheduled in the period prior to 1 June have been cancelled. Until further notice, we will not make any arrangements for new meetings between now and 1 September. We trust you will understand the need for this. As soon as the national measures allow, we will do our utmost to enable the postponed meetings to take place.
The period we have entered imposes a heavy burden on everyone, particularly on those of us who are closely involved in work to combat the virus. We wish you all a great deal of strength, and we look forward to soon welcoming you in good health again to the Trippenhuis.
