Professor Wendy Barclay is Action Medical Research Chair in Virology and Head of the Department of Infectious Disease at Imperial College London and will deliver this Beijerinck Lecture. She is an acknowledged expert in the field of respiratory viruses. Her ground-breaking studies have greatly advanced our basic understanding of Influenza A virus replication as well as of the viral adaptations required for cross-species transmission.
The DAVS symposium welcomes researchers in all stages of their research careers, including undergraduate (BA) and graduate (MA) students. For more information about the symposium, contact Martine Koot, congresbureau@knaw.nl.
The organising committee consists of Jolanda Smit (UMCG), Emmanuel Wiertz (UMCU), Monique van Oers (WUR) and Raoul de Groot (UU). The symposium will be held under the auspices of the Royal Dutch Society for Microbiology (KNVM) and is supported by the Academy M.W. Beijerinck-Virology Fund.
