    Academy Medal

    The Academy Medal is awarded every other year to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of science in the Netherlands in the broadest sense.

    Institute Gak-KNAW Award

    Talented early-career researchers may apply for a three-year appointment as a post-doc researcher at an Academy institute to conduct research on the labour market and social security in the Netherlands

    Dr. Hendrik Muller Prize

    The Dr. Hendrik Muller Prize is awarded every other year to a mid-career researcher working in the Netherlands who has made an outstanding contribution to the humanities or social sciences. The prize consists of a monetary award of EUR 25,000, intended to help finance a research project at the prizewinner’s discretion.

    KNAW Early Career Award

    The KNAW Early Career Award recognizes innovative and original research and stimulates the further development of the careers of all kinds of early career researchers in various areas of scientific practice.

    KNAW Van der Gaag Grant

    The KNAW Van der Gaag Grant helps young behavioural researchers cover the cost of a research project or working visit abroad. A KNAW Van der Gaag Grant consists of a cash sum not exceeding EUR 10,000.

    Statesman Thorbecke Fund Programme

    The Statesman Thorbecke Fund Programme is for research projects that have a strong connection with the Dutch statesman Johan Rudolf Thorbecke. Preference is given to projects carried out by a postdoctoral researcher. A project may be awarded up to EUR 200,000 in funding.

    De la Court Prize

    The De la Court Prize recognises individuals who have produced outstanding scholarly work in the social sciences or humanities without financial reward, independently and outside the established academic institutions.

    Science Communication By Scientists: Rewarded!

    In 2021, groups consisting of at least three scientists with a proven and structural track record in science communication could apply for funding of up to EUR 10,000 to support and/or enrich their science communication activities.
