The Huygens Institute conducts research into Dutch history, culture and identity from an international perspective.
The Institute connects humanities research with cultural heritage. We make large quantities of sources accessible and interpret them using innovative research methods. By connecting research, data and digital infrastructure, we collaborate with interdisciplinary teams based on a long-term vision. This allows us to uniquely push the boundaries of historical, cultural and social debate.
We aim to reinforce our position as a national centre of expertise in scientifically rigorous research on historical and cultural data, ranging from unique sources to big data. Our starting point is the polyphony of history and culture. We strive to do justice to this diversity.
